Home science is a dynamic and ever-growing field of education in the world. Home science is applied field built upon both the discipline of science and humanities and is worthy of life education. The development of Home science education reflects social pressures that are evident around the turn of the century. Research in home science has been made Great advances in the areas of health, nutrition, textile, psychology, housing and managerial skills, which the homemaker requires in her day-to-day life of managing and maintaining the household. Hence, it is essential that such knowledge and skills are made available to every homemaker for creating a healthy, happy and enriched family life.

The department of Home science in St. Teresa’s College Ernakulam in association with Kerala Council for Science Technology and Environment (KSCSTE) conducted the Home science Research Fair – Re AP (Research Advancement Programme) to inspire, motivate and empower researchers on 6th December 2017.

Functions Details

The programme was inaugurated by Dr. V.S. Jayakumar, Director, Mar Baselios Institute of Technology; Trivandrum who delivered the Keynote address on “How to plan and Design an Innovative R& D programme?” Director Dr. Sr. Vinitha presided over the session and Principal Dr. Sajimol Augustine M. offered felicitations. Dr. Betty Rani Isaac, HOD Home Science welcomed the gathering.  Other highlights of this year’s programme were sessions handled by Dr. Sreejesh from the Department of Management Studies, CUSAT and “Better Coping Skills for Researchers?” by Dr. Thandavamoorthy, Principal, Sapient College of Commerce and Management, Mysore. Both paper and poster presentations were done from a wide range of faculties both Social sciences and Humanities.
