Two Day Training Of Farmer
The program that Training Of Farmer was conducting by Er. Bhavya E P and Arpana Anand of B.Voc Food Processing Technology. They have handled a Two-day Training program for farmers of Ernakulam and Thrissur Districts on 21st and 22nd August 2019. The training program was titled "Value addition and processing of Fruits and Vegetables" and it was conducted in association with Regional Agricultural Technology Training, Vytilla. Various value-added products from fruits and vegetables such as jam, jelly, ketchup, syrup, squash and fruit bars were demonstrated.
Advantages Of Processed Food
- Foods are usually processed to kill harmful bacteria or other microorganism, to make them safer and for longer shelf life.
- Some processed foods like peanut butter, blueberry jam, homemade cranberry juice, apple juice, grape juice, are healthy choices that can be harmless.
- The processed foods are preserved like in cans, bottles, and jars that are airtight, so the food packed inside is free of bacteria.
- These foods are easy to get, as they are available in all seasons and at all stores.
- The foods like pre-cut vegetables and meat are quality convenience foods for busy people and for those who can’t visit a faraway market to buy vegetables and meat.
Disadvantages Of Processed Food
- The food processing removes some of the nutrients, vitamins, and fiber that present in the food.
- Processed foods are obtained from laboratories and not in nature. These foods are genetically modified and may cause gastrointestinal disorders, infertility and can make damage to your organs.
- Frequent intake of processed foods makes peoples become angry and irritable. Consumption of the natural whole foods can help level out to your mood, sustain energy levels and leave you feeling content and relaxed.
- The trans fats and sugar present in processed items that can cause inflammation, an unhealthy condition that leads to asthma.
- Daily munching of processed foods promotes aging and the kidney makes damage as they contain phosphates and genetically engineered ingredients.
